This post is a make up for the posting on the wiki group. I have chose to post this today, because today is the last day for our group to update on the wikigroup.
Wikigroup is a very interesting and nice way of updating information. However as more and more people use the wiki the information might get inaccurate, and not precise.
The experience i got from the wiki exercise is that , it might be good for people to edit your grammatical errors. However it is also frustrating when people strt to remove some words from my postings.

This is a post for tutorial 3 and 4 i have forgotten to post it and saved it as a draft.
Today, we have a taskto do and i find them quite find and interesting.
2. Assuming that you have been appointed as the new CEO of YouTube, discuss in your groups answers to these questions :
• What are the factors that lead to the extreme popularity of YouTube, especially with keen competition from other social network services like Wiki, Blogs and Facebook.
• The article discusses some downsides to YouTube. How would you deal with these issues?
• What would be the future direction for YouTube?. Refer to the sections “Where is it going?” and “What are the implications for teaching and learning” for some ideas
The role gave us a different perspective of looking things from a different way.I have learnt that if we look thing in our own perspective we are considered very selfish.
Youtube generally serve as a normal website where i look into my friends like and look back into memories. A lot of my freind life video have been posted up there. More importantly, many of the camp's funny moment have been uploaded to youtube. (most of these camps are conducted by me as a Cadet Inspector.) Click here
Actually i can live without youtube because i do not go there for normal video daily. This might be due to the fact that i prefer studying and working on my project more then watching video.
How can we use youtube as a research tool? Perhaps we can use them as a place where lecturer can post the class lecture on to the web and we can view them at home. If all the tertiary institution uses this we are able to look through each others lecturer and in that way more people can benefit.:)

The class today was quick. :) we went through a short lecture and we were told what to do in class. However, i seriously do not know how to use mac so i decided to go home and do my
"homework." for today's entry i am suppose to do : a.Update your blog with magical pictures of your Dream Holiday destinations
b.Which evaluation criteria did you used to evaluate the multimedia websites for your dream holiday? Why? c.Why did you choose to go to your Dream Holiday destination.
The place which i want to go is South Africa,Botswana + Victoria Fall. I personally enjoy places with beautiful scenery. After watching so many television program on Victoria falls i would definately want to go there and relax myself. Another add on point is that this trip also bring us to the south africa, Looking at animals in the wild life is indeed interesting.

On friday, we had our first quiz. the quiz was quite difficult because some part of the quiz was question that i didn't understand. However, i did quite well and i manage to get 15/20 which is around 7.5 % out of the full 100 percent.
For this blog entry the question we are suppose answer are :
a.Which criteria did you use to evaluate talkingcock.com? Why did you choose this criteria?
b.How did you feel about participating in the role plays?
A) The criteria that i chose was currency and purpose. The reason why i choose currency is because there will be new post almost everyday and the purpose of this website is generally for entertainment and for some post it self it more to self expression. Therefore, the website of www.tokingcock.com is also a springboard for internet user to express themselves.
B)The participation was suppose to be quite fun. My group was given the role of minister. Being a group leader i would like to give a chance to my groupmates to stand up for the group and do some talking for the group. Finally Jason stood up and did some presentation for the group, even though is not perfect but i think it was very daring of him to express himself. The input from the rest of the class mates was good too. There were many different views from different role> SIngaporean, Foreign workers and Ministers.

The question that i am suppose to answer for practical 6 are.
a. Do you think it is more effective to search the invisible web (databases) than using search engines, meta-search or subject directories? Why? b. Will you use the invisible web (databases) for research in your own respective Diplomas? Why?
A)Personally i do not find using the invisible web (databases) effective at all. Like what the lecturer has said, we have to login to access the databases. while i was using the TP Digital Library Portal Research Gateway(TP's Databases), i find it very troublesome because we have to go through a lot of web page interface before we can even find out if there is any related results to my search. Unlike, search engines, meta-search or subject directories. where we can key in the search and see if there is any relevant result. With this it is more efficient in finding our search. Another important fact is that we do not have to pay access such facilities.
B)As for the question if i will use the invisible web (databases) for research in your own respective Diplomas? I feel that will will not use it as the first webpage that i go to when i am finding for research.Search engines will be my first, followed by meta-search or subject directories. I will even prefer searching for books at TP library, even though its more tedious. After all i personally feel that books are also very relevant as in my Diploma itself it more to the visual industry. Therefore a came up with a conclusion " a picture speaks a thousand words." so using the invisible web (databases) normally will be my last resort.

There was no school on Monday because it is a public holiday. So we did some online discussion forum.
This was what we were supposed to do: Post your answers to the following questions: Engage in discussions with your classmates by commenting on at least ONE of their responses.
This E-learning activity should be done on 27 Oct 08 (Mon).Your attendance will be marked based on your valid online posting of your answers to the above questions and comment on another classmate's post.
Briefly explain how Internet has enriched your academic and social life. Illustrate your answer using ONE Internet resource and ONE search facility you had learnt in EIR.
So on sunday itself, i texted my groupmates YunJie, Melissa, Mei Juan, Jason and sheryl to meet on monday online together at 10am. This is because i scared they might just forget to do. So i suggested every one come early finish early then we can all enjoy our public holiday during the afternoon.
After 12 noon i realise my plan did work majority of my groupmates finished the discussion forum and they went offline. I suppose they did enjoy their public holiday.
Chatting on the Discussion forum was fun i was able to know how my other classmates feel about the internet. I was so surprised that so many of my classmates have same views as me :) Internet is indeed a useful tool.
