After a warm welcome from the lecturer. The start of new semester has began.

The subject i am taking in this block is called Effective Internet Research (EIR). From what i have heard from the lecturer it has been modified and adapted from the previous subject Using Internet as a Research Tool (UIR).EIR allows you to make use of Web 2.0 and other Internet resources for effective Internet research. EIR gives you the chance to establish your presence on the web by creating your own blog, participate in discussion forums, chat on MSN and set up group Wikis.

We had our first lecture for the day introduction to Internet resources. discussion of the different kind of functions of internet. For example, blogs, wiki, forums, databases, electronic journals. Frankly speaking i did not know that such function even existed. Perhaps, it is to common till everyone forget about it.After reading through the lecture notes, i finally understood the meaning of "wiki." Wiki is a short version of Hawaiian term "wiki wiki" meaning quick or fast.

I also just found out the reason why the lecturer always say do not get any information from wikipedia. This is due to the fact that any one has the right to enter wikipedia and make admements.

The first day is a good start for me, I really enjoy the class and i hope i can pass this subject with flying colours.
